Dr Luks, you and others recommend hops and jumps, but I’ve had a knee replacement and have been told that jumping movements could jeopardize the new joint. Do you have alternative moves you could recommend for people like me, particularly that might help with bone density? Thanks
Well. I have patients who jog, jump, play pickleball etc with their knee replacements. Most surgeons don’t recommend avoiding many activities. Within reason, of course.
That's a situation that requires the evaluation of a rehab specialist. They need to determine your functional capacity and design a program that is very specific to your needs. Many hospital-based physical therapy units are capable of doing this well.

Any tips for those who are physically unable to run, jump, walk, etc., due to leg injuries - either due to orthopedic or neurological issues?
