You also need to actively use your mind as you age. Learn new things, challenge yourself. Mental aging can be more harmful than physical aging if you don't stay physically and mentally active.

This really really hits home foe me. At 71, still cranking it out, albeit slower. Wouldn't have it any other way. I'm curious why others decide to "give it up"? The passive lifestyle just seems less satisfying.

It’s less that they give it up… and more that they never started.

So true. I see a huge difference at 66 between me, always been very active and now seriously exercising for several years, and my friends, who are/have always been totally sedentary in their leisure time and don't exercise. Gratifying for me that I feel I am doing quite well, but it makes me sad that they see the rapid decline they are experiencing as "just getting old" and apparently not worh the effort to fight.
